Color Perception Test: The Color Magic Circle

One of these tiles is a slightly different color. Find it and tap it! The further you go, the more tiles there are, and the closer the colors get.

How to play

  1. Tap the one tile with a different color to move on to the next round.
  2. Tap a wrong tile and you lose 3 seconds.
  3. Every right answer scores points. The smaller the color difference, the more points you get (100 to about 450). Find it fast for up to +50, and keep a no-miss streak going for up to +50 more.
  4. Stuck? Call "Roby's Help"! Roby the robin pecks away a quarter of the board where the answer isn't. You can use it twice per game, and you get one use back every 5 rounds (up to 2). Using it once halves that round's points; twice cuts them to a quarter.
  5. How many rounds you clear in 60 seconds also gives you a rank for telling colors apart.
  6. For best results, turn up your screen brightness and play somewhere without glare.

This test is just for fun. It is not a color vision (color blindness) test and does not diagnose anything. Results also depend on your screen, its brightness, and the light around you.

About the Color Perception Test: The Color Magic Circle

This is a 60-second color perception test where you find the one tile that is a slightly different color from the rest. As you go, the grid grows (up to 8×8) and the color difference gets smaller. Each right answer scores points, with more for harder rounds where the colors are closer, plus bonuses for finding the tile quickly and for answering without mistakes. Based on how many rounds you clear in 60 seconds, you also get a rank for telling colors apart. Meanwhile, the little pixel-art knight Ryu gets more and more flustered as the clock runs down.

How to play

  1. Press "Start" and your 60 seconds begin.
  2. Tap the tile with the different color to move on. A wrong tap costs you 3 seconds.
  3. Stuck? Use "Roby's Help" and Roby the robin breaks a quarter of the tiles where the answer isn't (twice per game, with one use back every 5 rounds; that round's points are halved).
  4. When time runs out, you see your score, your rank, and the smallest color difference you spotted.

FAQ

Is this a color blindness test?

No. It's a game for fun, not a color vision test, and it doesn't diagnose anything.

Why do my results change from device to device?

Colors look different depending on the screen, its brightness, and the light around you. A brighter screen makes the tiles easier to tell apart.

Is my best score saved?

Yes. It's saved in your browser and shown the next time you open the page.
